Interviews Reviews - Back in Quo country

Blues In Britain March 2107

Bob Young tour-managed Status Quo, played harmonica with them, and with either Rick Parfitt or Francis Rossi, co-wrote many of their classic hits. 1996's Back In Quo Country (HNE HNECD076) features Young playing somewhat countrified versions of some of these tracks. His vocals unfortunately are slight bit there's terrific playing from Whitesnake guitarist Micky Moody, Rockpile guitarist Billy Bremner, Kokomo drummer Terry Stannard, pedal steel guitarist BJ Cole and guitarist Albert Lee whose soloing is stunning on "down Down" and elsewhere. On "Mean Girl" Lee and fiddler Graham Preskett trade phrases spectaculary, an album highlight. There are eight bonus tracks, many of high quality, four of them produced by Roger Glover.
