BLOG 82 28th January 2013
Almost one month into the New Year and while it’s been quite a busy time I have to say not as crazy as it was in the last three months of 2012 although I have a feeling its going to be quite special from here on in for many reasons.
Christmas came and went although it took a while to get over the madness of the Asia tour with classical pianist Maksim, having done nineteen flights in twenty-six days through Singapore, China and Korea. My aim was to make it back to the UK in time to catch Quo at the O2 Arena on the last night of their UK Christmas tour and with some hasty re-scheduling of flights after a last minute cancellation out of Beijing I made it back to London just 24 hours before they went on stage. It was worth the effort too and then after a reasonable nights sleep it felt like Christmas was about to start albeit with some interesting jet-lag.
Christmas Eve was spent, as every year, having great Italian food at the Rossi household with the only non-family members there being Sue and I and Quo’s Personal Assistant, the lovely Lyane, and her Mum. So that was the four of us and nineteen Rossi family around the table.
January took a little while to get kick-started although I continued to work on securing the artists for a big private show and weekend in Mexico in the middle of this year.
I’m also enjoying working on the Quo Re-union Tour program with Adrian Cross who worked with me on the ‘Just Doin’ It’ Quo coffee table book which came out five years ago (where did the time go?). We’re now working on a paperback edition of this book with another 36 pages included and this should be published sometime before Christmas.
Another of my projects is putting together a new book of poems, thoughts and various other combinations of words. Some of you might remember my first book of poems ‘Alias The Compass’ which was published in 1978 and had a nice forward by John Peel. I’m aiming to have this new one finished and available by the end of March/early April and it will be available exclusively through my website. So for anyone interested in getting hold of a copy I’ll put all of the information up on this site next month.
Rehearsals for the Frantic Four re-union tour start in February and I see there’s a lot of activity on the Quo official site message board. Lots of speculation on the songs they’ll be playing and all I can say is I’m certain no-one is going to be disappointed and I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of very happy faces coming away from the shows. I’ll do a new Blog a little closer to the start of the tour. The response to the announcement of the re-union was quite outstanding and the ticket sales and speed with which they sold was quite outstanding. I think I’ll finish this little blog now before I get too excited….
So catch up with you in a month or so.
Cheers
